In 1946, our members began raising funds for scholarships and bursaries. Since that time, we have remained deeply committed to helping women advance their educational goals and build lives of their choosing.
In March 2026, we raised a grand total of $57,000 for our annual scholarships and bursaries. Thanks to the generosity of our community and hard work of members & volunteers, we are supporting more women in a wider range of studies than ever before.
Each year we gift these funds to our partner institutions and organizations: MUN, CNA, We Care Foundation NL, and Thrive. They manage the funds and award the scholarships and bursaries to their students/participants according to our annual gift agreements.
Overview of the 2026-2027 Awards
Memorial University Newfoundland Labrador
This year, our gift was a record $37,000 and we added several new bursaries to our basket:
- Marine Institute – 5 scholarships
- MUN – 4 graduate scholarships, 2 graduate bursaries, 8 undergraduate scholarships, 12 undergraduate bursaries
We increased our annual gift to $11,000, funding 8 scholarships and 3 new bursaries.
We have supported scholarships for women in girls in Northern Nigeria for many years. This year’s gift of $4,000 will ensure dozens of women and girls can study in a wide range of post-secondary programs and institutions in Northern Nigeria.
Thanks to the support of Crombie REIT Avalon Mall, we created a new bursary program for refugee and immigrant residents studying in post- secondary institutions in NL. We are very excited to launch these 3 new bursaries in September.
Thrive CYN – $2,000
Thrive meets vulnerable people where they are, helps them go where they want to go, and supports them to be who they want to be. Our $2,000 gift will provide bursaries to women to enable them to pursue educational and career goals.
